Bactroban Nasal Ointment is an antibacterial. It works by stopping the production of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to survive.

  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Bactroban Nasal Ointment

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Bactroban Nasal Ointment:

Some medical conditions may interact with Bactroban Nasal Ointment. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement

  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

  • if you are treating a burn or open wound

  • if you have kidney problems

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Bactroban Nasal Ointment. However, no specific interactions with Bactroban Nasal Ointment are known at this time.

Ask your health care provider if Bactroban Nasal Ointment may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

How to use Bactroban Nasal Ointment:

  • Throw away the tube after using. Do not reuse.

  • Press the sides of the nose together and gently massage for about 1 minute after application to spread the ointment throughout the inside of the nostrils.

  • Bactroban Nasal Ointment should not be used along with other nasal products/medicines.

  • To clear up your infection completely, use Bactroban Nasal Ointment for the full course of treatment. Keep using it even if you feel better in a few days.
